    Nicolas Aubert studied in Lausanne and Zurich and holds a degree in law from the University of Lausanne (lic. iur., 2006). In 2008-2012, he was working for the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. Presently a Swiss National Science Foundation doctoral researcher at c2d/ZDA, he is involved in the SNSF project 'The People's Constituent Power - Referendums on Sovereignty Issues' and preparing a doctoral thesis dealing with direct democracy in the Canton of Vaud.

  • Corsin Bisaz

    Corsin Bisaz holds a degree in Law (Dr.iur.) as well as one in Political Science (lic.phil.) from the University of Zurich. His doctoral dissertation was on the concept of group rights in contemporary international law; it was mainly conducted at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in Lund, Sweden, and funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

  • Nevin Bucher

    Nevin Martina Bucher studied Law in Zurich and Berlin and holds a degree from the University of Zurich (Master of Law UZH, 2015). Before joining the c2d/ZDA in January 2016 as a doctoral candidate she was working as a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Andreas Glaser at the University of Zurich. Presently she is preparing her doctoral dissertation on young adults in the Swiss political system with ist semi-direct democracy.

  • Magdalena Despotov

    Magdalena Despotov studies Law in Zurich. She is about to obtain the degree „Bachelor of Law“. She joined the c2d/ZDA in May 2015 as an assistant regarding the electronic database on direct democracy in Switzerland, Europe and the world. This database contains information on the institutions (referendum and popular initiative) of direct democracy as well as on their use in popular votes.

  • Lorenz Langer

    Lorenz Langer holds an M.Phil. degree in mediaeval studies (University of Cambridge, 1999), a M.A. degree in history and archaeology (University of Zurich, 2001) and law degrees from the Universities of St. Gall (lic.iur., 2005) and Zurich (Dr. iur., 2013). He was admitted to the Swiss bar in 2007 and has worked in a law firm in Zurich and at the District Court in Baden. In 2009-2010, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Yale Law School; he is a lecturer at the law faculty of the University of Zurich and managing editor of the Swiss Review of International and European Law.

  • Fernando  Mendez

    Fernando Mendez is a Senior Researcher at the c2d. Apart from his work at c2d he also directs the eDemocracy Centre, which is affiliated to the c2d, and is the coordinator of the Preference Matcher research consortium. Dr. Mendez holds a PhD in Political Science from the European University Institute, Florence. He has led various projects funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) on aspects of direct democracy and coordinated a number of applied research projects in the field of e-participation.

  • Tomislav Milic

    Tomislav Milic holds a PhD degree in Political Science from the University of Zurich. His doctoral dissertation is about the voting behavior in Swiss referendums. Tomislav Milic has published several peer reviewed articles mostly on referendums and elections in Switzerland. Recently published was his book "Handbuch Abstimmungsforschung" (with Adrian Vatter and Bianca Rousselot).

  • Liana Sala

    Liana Sala studies Law in Zurich and joined the c2d/ZDA in July 2015 as an assistant within the project „The implementation of successful popular initiatives in legislation, application of the law and jurisdiction". In 2014 she wrote her Bachelor’s thesis on the interaction between constitutional fundamental rights and direct democracy.

  • Yanina  Welp

    Yanina Welp is currently the Regional Director for Latin America at the Center for Research on Direct Democracy (C2D) and Privatdozent at the University of St.Gallen. She earned her PhD in Political and Social Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain) and has been a researcher at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute, Catalonia Open University.(2004-2006), Pompeu Fabra University (2001-2003) and the University of Buenos Aires (1997-1999). She taught at the University of Moron (Argentina) and at Catalonia Open University (Spain)
